Less than a week from Cambodia!

We are just days away from moving to Cambodia! August has brought us a lot of life, fun, and continued confirmation of the Lord’s leading us. We managed to sell almost all the last of our things and get packed into 23 suitcases / boxes to get on a plane to Kaua’i for a month before we head off to Cambodia.

Time in Kaua’i

Michael taught a two-week apologetics course at the Bible college here on Kauai. He also shared about Cambodia and taught at the church last week. Katie attended a women’s retreat which was refreshing. And our friends have hosted some evenings for us to share with friends and potential supporters about our upcoming time in Cambodia.

It has been a treasure to spend time with our friends and church family here on Kauai these last few weeks. Fellowship with the body of Christ is so life giving, and we don’t take for granted how absolutely precious it really is. Knowing fellowship will be limited and different, in a country that is less than 1% Christian these next few years, we are truly grateful to be soaking in the love and comfort of being with our brothers and sisters here on Kauai.

The amount of tears we have shed leaving the people we love here on this island over the years is unreal. It seriously hurts to leave home sometimes, and there’s no getting around that. But the love of God, and the beauty and power of His gospel is the compelling force that drives us forward. His call makes the difficulty worth it.

5 days to go!

So, five days from now, we will load all of our things onto another plane for this final push into SE Asia. Fortunately – we will be traveling with a team of seven other people from our sending church here, Calvary Chapel Lihue! They will be doing a week-long outreach trip in Takeo Province, Cambodia, then travelling on to Thailand to serve at an Asian Missions conference. Our family will also attend this conference in Thailand, and it will be a special time to connect with pastors and missionaries, and for our kids to meet families ministering all over Asia.

We see a glimpse in our hearts of the work God has for us in Cambodia – and we look forward to arriving and letting the Lord unfold it all before us. He is worthy of our whole lives, He is worthy of being our guide, of being listened to and followed. So we head out, with expectation of His goodness and His plans in our hearts. We don’t know everything that lies ahead, but we know the One who has ordained it all, and so our eyes are on Him.

Please pray for us

“These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.”Hebrews 11:13-16
