Bible Classes Reflection: Sharing the Father’s Love
This week, I was asked to teach two separate Bible classes—one with 6A and the other with 6B. To be honest, I was really nervous going into the first class. I hadn’t had much time to prepare, and I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to share. But as I prayed, I felt like God was putting the story of the Prodigal Son on my heart.
At first, I wasn’t sure how that would connect with a room full of sixth graders—many of whom are only just beginning to learn about God through their time at this school. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the heart of the story—the Father’s love—was exactly what God wanted me to communicate.
Later that same day, I found out I’d be teaching the second class just an hour before it started. Again, I felt completely unprepared, but once again God showed up. He impressed on me to not only share the Prodigal Son story again, but also to open up about my own testimony—about the times in my life when I was searching for something more, just like the prodigal son. And how I only found what I was looking for when I found Christ.
One of my absolute favorite moments from this entire trip came after those classes—when I saw the look on the students’ faces after I finished teaching. Their expressions were filled with joy. Real, sincere joy. It was such a beautiful thing to witness.
I’ve loved every part of this mission trip—from the outreach to the adventures—but nothing compares to the moments when I get to see God’s love being revealed, not just to others, but to myself as well. That’s what makes this all so worth it.
