Ancheta Family Fall Update
Thank you for continuing to pray for us and walk with us through these first months in Cambodia. This season has been full of answered prayers, new rhythms, and a lot of learning. We are grateful for God’s provision, your support, and the doors He is opening for ministry here in Takeo.
Family & Life Update
A Reliable Vehicle — A Huge Answer to Prayer
We were able to purchase a reliable 12-seat vehicle for $17,500, and it has already proven invaluable. It allows us to transport people, carry supplies, help church members, and host visiting ministry teams in the future. We’re so thankful for those who prayed and gave toward this need.
Visa and Work Permit Approvals
12-month visas secured; work permits valid through 2025.
Home Setup: Almost There
We’re now about 90% set up in our home—after months of living out of suitcases, this feels like a major milestone.
A Potential Home & Property Purchase
We have been given the unexpected opportunity to purchase the property we’re currently living on—and at a lower cost than originally presented.
-
Previously offered: $160–$180K
-
New potential range: $100–$130K
Owning the property would allow us to:
-
Use the entire space for ministry freely
-
Make improvements without feeling like we’re losing funds
-
Establish a long-term base for discipleship, Bible training, teams, and community ministry
We’re praying for wisdom, timing, and provision. Please pray with us as we discern this significant opportunity.
🗣 Language Learning
Kids
The kids have been doing exceptionally well in Khmer class.
They’re picking up new vocabulary quickly and have begun learning to read the Khmer written script. Their progress has opened doors for friendships and deeper connection with local children.
Adults
Katie and Michael will begin formal Khmer training in January, twice per week.
We’re excited (and nervous!) to finally start structured language school. Real fluency will be essential for long-term ministry here.
Ministry Updates
Teaching & Preaching
-
We just completed a full study through the Book of Acts on Sundays.
In December we will shift to a Christmas series and then start the new year in one of the four Gospels. -
For midweek services, we are nearing the end of 1 Corinthians.
After that, we will begin an overview series of every book of the Bible to help the church grow in their understanding of Scripture as a whole.
Strengthening the Church Through Fellowship
One of our big focuses this season has been building relationships within the church. We’ve begun using one midweek service each month as a dedicated time for:
-
Breaking into small groups
-
Sharing prayer needs
-
Praising God together
We’ve already seen believers open up with vulnerability, encouragement, and genuine fellowship.
We also hosted Thanksgiving dinner at our home church friends, some old and some new — we hope to make group meals a regular rhythm as we help cultivate deeper community.

🌏 Mission Teams
We’re nearly finished developing a webpage for hosting visiting teams.
We already have three teams scheduled for 2026, and more conversations underway. If you are interested in bringing out a team, let us know!
We are excited to see how short-term teams can support long-term discipleship and ministry here.
Thank You for Standing With Us
We truly couldn’t do this without you. Your prayers, messages, generosity, and encouragement sustain us in more ways than you know. We are grateful for each one of you.
Please continue praying for:
~ Wisdom regarding the property opportunity
~ Growth in language learning
~ Deep unity and spiritual maturity in the church
~ Preparation for 2026 ministry teams
~ Health and protection for our family
~ Thank you for being part of what God is doing in Cambodia.
